The is the tool belt which holds the wrenches that ironworkers use to attach a beam to a column. The pointed end aligns the beam to the column so that the bolt can put into place. The wrench is used to tighten the bolt. At one time the steel was held together by heating rivets and hammering them into the holes. This work was very dangerous. Hot rivets were thrown up to the riveters from below. The men who did this work were called riveters. Their job was the most dangerous and received the most pay. Now it is done with bolts and nuts. |
