Rain hails from Akwesasne. While she grew up surrounded and inspired by the innovative basketry of her mother Carrie, it wasn’t until the Covid-shutdown in 2020 that Rain embraced the colorful possibilities of beadwork.

Today, Rain creates beaded earrings in raised and flat techniques, with a preference for floral motifs. Despite many commissioned pieces, Rain’s biggest challenge was the rim of her own graduation cap which represented 9.5 hours of beading.
