Bone, Brass Bead & Leather Braclet
Beautifully crafted braclets made of bone, brass beads and leather by MJ Sheanadoah of the Oneida Nation. An active contributor to Schenandoah Deerskin DesignZ, MJ produces moccasins, bags, leather dresses, and skirts as well as buffalo horn bracelets and chokers. Both her mother Cheryl and father Jerry are leatherworkers. The skills MJ uses today were passed to Jerry from MJ’s grandmother Maisie. Schenandoah DesignZ has done custom outfits for Grammy award winning vocalist Joanne Shenandoah. They also produced all of the leather clothing for the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center’s historic exhibits. MJ travels the powwow and festival circuit throughout the northeast and is a regular at the IIM’s annual Labor Day Festival.
