MJ Schenandoah of the Oneida Nation produces moccasins, bags, leather dresses, and skirts as well as buffalo horn bracelets and chokers. Both her parents Cheryl and Jerry are also leatherworkers. The skills MJ uses today were passed to Jerry from his mother Maisie. Schenandoah DesignZ has done custom outfits for Grammy award winning vocalist Joanne Shenandoah. They also produced all of the leather clothing for the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center’s historic exhibits. MJ travels the powwow and festival circuit throughout the northeast and is a regular at the IIM’s annual Labor Day Festival.
