 Mike Jones grew up on Cattaraugus Reservation in western NY and is involved in efforts to preserve and perpetuate the Seneca language. He expresses in traditionally inspired pottery as well as painting, drawing, poetry, and music. “My pen and ink drawings are something I’ve always done but recently started showing. The subject matter of my drawings ranges from personal experience on and off the reservation as well as dreams and imaginations.”  

This print features the 8 Seneca clans: bear, wolf, deer, beaver, turtle, snipe, heron and hawk. With Frame 7 3/4"X5 1/2"

 

His work is in the collections of the Heard Museum (AZ), Seneca- Iroquois National Museum (NY), Iroquois Indian Museum (NY), American Indian Contemporary Arts (CA), Southern Plains Indian Museum (OK) and other institutions. Jones took 1st Place in Fine Arts at Ganondagan’s Hodinohso:ni’ Juried Art Show in 2018.
