Stunning wampum & pearl necklace made by artist Julius Cook   (1927 - 1999) of the Mohawk Nation, Akwesasne. His creations reference his Kanie'keha teachings and elements of the natural world with each piece carrying an explanation of the meanings behind his original designs. His repertoire included exquisitely crafted rings, pendants, necklaces, belt buckles and earrings in silver and gold. In addition to his art, Julius was an orator, Tribal Chief, musician & ironworker. 

 

The necklace is 16. 5 inches long. pearls are interspersed with wampum tube beads. Heart attached to necklace with silver.
